I arrived very early, at dawn. With the help of a map I took from the tourist office, I made a profuse market research of hostels. There’s no perfect hostel, not in Puerto Iguazú. Though my decision system was quite simple: I only wanted a place where the cleaning standards were satisfied. And other logical things, like it had to have WiFi, or at least, Internet.
Something also important in my decision: them not to forbid entering with beer. Not due to my increasing alcoholism (which had actually a decreasing tendency the previous days), but because it is a limitation for the guest which only intends the profit of the hostel (that obviously sells drinks). I reckon that that measure is against the nature of a hostel, and is pathetic enough to be a decision factor.
I ended without `Internete’ and with small baths, but comfortable enough.
Later, I went to the National Park. Quite expensive, 60 pesos for foreigners.
‘They are only falls. It’s not that incredible, whatever the ions floating in this air.’ – I was thinking. That thought changed a bit after taking being showered by one of the falls in one of the trails. And I lost my significant other.
Then, in the hostel, with David [es], Tatiana/Tamara [ar], Roxana [ar], and a disturbed girl. A frustrated attempt of go out at night.
The second day (10), along with Tita [mx] and Freddy [mx], strolling around the ‘Hito de las Tres Fronteras’.

D Cruzando a Concordia

Packed and with a stomach full of ice cream, I took a bus to the terminal, and bought a ticket to Concordia. But the Uruguayan bus system turned out to be disappointing: at 14h30, they gave me back the 73 pesos, since the bus had been somehow damaged. I had no patience to wait until the next bus, which was in about 6 hours.
So I went to the port, and I ended up crossing in a boat to Concordia. More interesting than simply a bus…

The first day, I slept. The bad thing about waking up late and rested is that there are few things you can do in a city which don’t involve alcohol. Thus, with Steffi [de], it was demonstrated how drinking can produce some erratic behaviours related to relations. Some of them known previously. But there also was an intermittently dialogue with Ozal [us], Misha ‘the supplier’ [dk], and the stunning Janine [ca].
The second day, on Saturday, I was a bit more active… I reserved a bus for Montevideo, at least. The night, with a similar weather to that on the previous day (rain), was enjoyable, though we didn’t leave hostel. With Silvina [ar], and her two friends, and the hen party, and other people of easy laughter (don’t ask why).
Sunday was fun. The morning with Silvina [ar], and afternoon with Ana [ar]. Diversion until the bus.

The day I left Córdoba was as asfixiating as the day I arrived there. Though they said 39ºC (102ºF), it seemed much more, probably due to humidity. I left a city crowded with university students, girls with breast implants and aesthetic obsession, eternal night life, traffic and sun, et cetera. During that two weeks of an endless summer, we drank and made some ‘random metal’.

I was rusting, I had to do something. And I did. Of course, it wasn’t a reunion with happiness, but it was good to be somewhat active again. There are many things to do in Alta Gracia: Ernesto Ché Guevara museum (a figure made a best-seller), a jesuit church, and more (including a Grido’s).

After 22 hours in a bus, where the overuse of the air conditioned and the weariness affected me in some strange ways, I arrived to Córdoba.

The same group formed the day before succeeded in a harder and more tiring task: the ascent to Cerro Escalonado. We trekked (and sometimes climbed) up to 1980 meters. Slippery stone, paranoia, splinters and inactive lifts. And the dogs, always there, as company and real mountaineers.
Later, Fernet and paraguayan.

After leaving El Bolsón, I headed north. After a short stop at Bariloche and some hours in a bus, I arrived to San Martín de los Andes and with it came an ‘asado’ in the hostel. Don’t talk with israelis, not of that.
Next day, along with Rodrigo [ar], Ramiro [ar], Pedro [es/ch] and Paula [ar], I went to the Bandurrias pinnacle. After that, we almost got lost and stumbled upon ‘playa Islita’.
Pasta from Peter [ch] the cook and his ‘world with scabies, world without law’.

We crossed to Argentina through the Futaleufú pass. After having a meal, talking with my intestines, and finding a bus from Esquel to El Bolsón, I bid Ricardo and Edu farewell. Arrived to El Bolsón and went directly to the hostel I was in months ago.
Next day (7), it was raining too much to do something interesting… Will I take a decent picture of El Bolsón, sometime?
